Jan Kern brings more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector to Cause Communications, where she oversees its convening and knowledge center creation initiatives as well as early stage facilitation projects and network development for emerging issues.
Jan has served in a variety of leadership and management positions, and her expertise includes strategic program development and execution, staff management, team building and relationship development.
As a pioneer in collaborating with community leaders to create nonprofit organizations that answer the needs of Los Angeles’ diverse neighborhoods, Jan has a longstanding interest in providing children and youth with the services and programs they require to succeed. During her tenure as the vice president of incubator services for Community Partners, and most recently with Southern California Grantmakers, she helped fledging community projects, initiatives and foundations maximize their impact on civic life.
Jan has been a founding board member of several nonprofit organizations and continues to provide leadership on selected boards and community initiatives. Since 2002, she has served as the president of The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health, a nonprofit organization of educators, health professionals, and community members that improves the health of the children of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
